Provenance: We have with this piece a certificate of authenticity from Galerie Carpentier, Paris , who are one of the most prominent dealers in Dali sculptures. This reads as follows “Je soussigne, Patrick Carpentier marchand de tableaux, certifie par le presente que l’oeuvre reproduit au recto: Titre : femme nu; Dimensions 45.5 x 35 cms; Technique: Plaque de bronze a patine verte; Fonderie: Airaindor; Numerote: 62/150 ; Signe : Salvador Dali; En foi de quoi , je delivre ce present certificate. Fait a Paris le 01 mars 2001.” Literature: See “Sculptures and objects : Dali - the Hard and the Soft - by Robert and Nicolas Descharnes. Pages 211/213. In 1976 Mario Pizzorni, collector and President of the Venezualan foreign exchange company, Italcambio, signed a contract with Dali for the creation of 15 watercolours that would later be adapted to bas reliefs in silver plate and bronze. Later other subjects were added such as “Hommage to Picasso” known also as Picasso , seen by Dali. The catalogue illustrates the series and shows the huge difference in appearance and character the different material of manufacture makes. Illustrated are examples of the works in watercolour, silver and patinated bronze. Our piece is referenced as number 539 in this catalogue raisonee. Edition: 62/150
